CPSC, Snapper, Inc. Announce Recall of Riding Lawn Mowers
PRODUCT: Lawn Mower - Snapper, Inc., of McDonough, Ga. is voluntarily
recalling about 3,000 riding lawn mowers. Snapper lawn mowers with
model numbers 280922B, 281022BE, LT145H33HBV, and YZ145333BVE are part
of this recall. The model number can be found on a white label attached
to the top of the lawn mower. Date code 5/02 or 6/02 can be found on
the discharge chute. Authorized Snapper dealers sold these mowers
nationwide from May 2002 through June 2002 for between $1,099 to $2,699.
These lawn mowers were made in the USA.
PROBLEM: The side discharge chute is defective. The material used to
manufacture the side discharge chute is not strong enough to prevent
projectiles from flying out from under the mower deck exposing consumers
and by-standers to possible injuries from flying debris.
INCIDENTS/INJURIES: None reported.
WHAT TO DO: Consumers should stop using their lawn mowers until the
discharge chute has been replaced. Contact a Snapper dealer immediately
