March 12, 1998- Climbing Harness Recalled by Misty Mountain Threadworks
In cooperation with the U.S. ConsumerProduct Safety Commission (CPSC), Misty Mountain ThreadworksInc. of Banner Elk, N.C., is recalling about 5,000 climbingharnesses with a front entry sleeve system. If attachedincorrectly, the climber's swami belt can be held by only asmall piece of elastic behind the sleeve. Climbers who don'trealize this mistake create a dangerous situation where thebelay/rappel loop tears through the elastic webbing,potentially causing the climber to flip backwards, possiblycausing injury.
June 12, 1995- Hunting Safety Belts & Climbing Harnesses Recalled by Game Tracker
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Game Tracker of Flushing, Mich., is recalling approximately 92,500 Deluxe Safety Belts & Climbing Harnesses and Lifeline Safety Harnesses. The climbing belts and safety harnesses were sold as a restraint mechanism to prevent hunters from falling when hunting from trees or tree stands.
