In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product SafetyCommission (CPSC), Newco Inc., of Janesville, Wis., is announcing a recall torepair program for about 5,400 bunk bed assembly kits sold under the brandname Bed-N-Loft Kits. Some kits did not include hardware or instructions forinstalling guardrails on the top bunk. A child could fall or become entrappedbetween the wall and the mattress if there are not guardrails on the topbunk. Other kits had incorrect assembly instructions for the guardrails, whichcaused spaces on the top bunk to be larger than 3.5 inches. This space could belarge enough for a child's body to fall through, but small enough to entrap achild's head and possibly strangle.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product SafetyCommission (CPSC), Kidde Safety, of Mebane, N.C., is voluntarily recallingabout 1 million carbon monoxide alarms, including 650,000 Nighthawks and350,000 Lifesavers. The Lifesaver models could alarm late or not alarm at all,and the Nighthawk models could alarm late. These alarms are used to detectcarbon monoxide (CO), a colorless, odorless gas, leaking from fuel burningappliances. When they don't work, consumers can be unknowingly exposedto hazardous levels of CO, and suffer injury or death.

Big Roc Tools Inc., of Ontario, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 38,170 outdoor extension cords. The cords have undersized wires and reverse polarity receptacles that allow plugs to be in inserted incorrectly, presenting fire, shock and electrocution hazards. They are also voluntarily recalling about 18,600 trouble lights. The lights have undersized, corroded or loose wires and exposed plug blades, presenting fire, shock and electrocution hazards.

The two-piece plastic housing of the power supply can separate, exposing internal electronics. This poses a serious electrical shock hazard to consumers.

The supplements being recalled are not packaged in child-resistant packaging as required under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. If accidentally swallowed by children in toxic amounts, these supplements can cause serious injury or death.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product SafetyCommission (CPSC), NIKE USA Inc., of Beaverton, Ore., is voluntarily recalling about 110,000 pairs of infant's shoes sold under the name "Little Air Jordan XIV." NIKE testing determined the red trim paint on these shoes contain amounts of lead that exceed Federal standards for children's products. Prolonged exposure to high levels of lead presents a poisoning hazard to young children.
