Since August 1996, Goodman ManufacturingCompany, L.P., of Houston, Texas, in cooperation with theU.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has beenconducting a program to replace high-temperature plasticvent (HTPV) pipe used to vent about 8,000 Goodmanmid-efficiency gas furnaces. The HTPV pipe used in thesevents could be susceptible to corrosion, cracking and jointseparation, which could result in the release of carbonmonoxide into living areas, presenting a deadly threat toconsumers.

In a landmark action, virtually theentire furnace and boiler industry together with themanufacturers of high-temperature plastic vent (HTPV) pipeshave joined with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission(CPSC) to announce a recall program. This program willreplace, free of charge, an estimated 250,000 HTPV pipesystems attached to gas or propane furnaces or boilers inconsumers' homes. The HTPV pipes could crack or separate atthe joints and leak carbon monoxide (CO), presenting adeadly threat to consumers.

Plugs using these outlet converters can comepartially out of the receptacles, presenting shock andelectrocution hazards.
